I write code, build tools, and publish the process along with the potholes I hit. Every item under “What I am working on” below has a link you can follow.

Background

An electrical engineering dropout who then spent years in computer science.

Worked at HTC, and joined Google along with two thousand colleagues.

Before leaving Google, I was advised to try a small company before starting my own. So I joined a small software company under a chip maker, and stayed a little over a year, until it shut down.

That year made me appreciate what community networks are worth, and it also pushed me back to something more basic: build things yourself, and build them in the open.

What I am working on

You can click straight through to all of it; the four GitHub projects have their source in the open, while this site and the traffic hotspot visualization on it do not.

• This website: bilingual, with the news and news-category pages generated by an automated pipeline, the topic pages written by hand, and the whole site guarded by linting and automated tests (source not public).
• BopomofoBruce: an Android Bopomofo (Zhuyin) input method, a clean-room rebuild of the discontinued Google Zhuyin IME (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, libchewing JNI).
• YouTube CC Aligner: a browser extension that makes YouTube remember subtitle settings per channel.
• Riddle Diary: a Chrome extension that reskins Claude into a handwritten diary. Local only, no tracking.
• Traffic hotspot visualization: open traffic-accident data turned into an interactive map (a page on this site; source not public).
• vibe-to-prod-lab: course material for the NTU afternoon session "From Vibe Coding to Production Architecture", covering testing strategy and production quality workflows in the age of AI.

What I care about

Rather than making myself look strong, I would rather demonstrate one thing: a way of working built on psychological safety and a growth mindset is not only possible, it is more competitive. The full version is in the Vision Plan.

So if there is something you want to build, come talk to me. I cannot promise you an answer, but I will tell you which potholes I already fell into.
